Hey guys,
I have a 99 2wd with a 3.0 auto. When the trans shifts from 1st to 2nd I have to let off the gas to get it to shift or it will shift at like 3000 rpm on its own but the od light will flash untill I restart. Trans shifts great in all other gears. Is there anything I can do or is it DOOOMED?

 

Search the site for 'valve body gasket' to see if that may be the problem.

 

Thanks. I'll start looking into it and post follow ups. I did a reset procedure I found here and it seems to have worked for now. I'll know better tomorrow night after back and forth to work.

 

Also a few months ago there would be a wooshing noise between those gears but I had 2 injectors go bad at the same time and the trans problem took a back seat. Sound like the same thing?

 

I had the exact same problem. I replaced my valve body gasket TWICE with brand new valve bodies and solenoids.. no luck. I searched and searched and found no fix. Thats how I found this website.. lol. But I ended up just replacing the tranny.

 

swap to 5 speed, problem solved....
