Transfer case drain plug

I can't find it. I don't think I have one. I see the fill plug but there is no drain plug. What am I missing here?

remove the damper plate (4 bolts with the round thing (damper) on it). The drain plug should be right behind it.
|
Ok cool thanks. Im gonna try it now.
|
Yep thats where it is. Thanks. I feel stupid I didn't look under there. There is a little gap and you can clearly see the plug behind the damper before removing it.
|
haha...i felt kind of stupid as well when i couldn't quite find it....then DUH, right there. lol. Glad you got 'er all figured out.
|
what fluid do you put in your transfer case? I have never changed mine and I have a 132k miles. It probably needs to be done. The drain plug is the one in that looks like it will accept a 3/8 or 1/2 in drive socket right next to the ATF label right?
Thanks, KC |
Right
|
3/8" socket yes.
and i use ATF. be careful when your tightening up the bolts on that dampener. i stripped out 2 of the holes |
I will check my service manual for the torque settings for those bolts.
Thanks, guess I have a new project for this weekend... |
Pull the fill plug first, or at least loosen it.
You would be mighty pissed if it stripped out on ya after you drained the case. |
yeh that is what I did when I did my rear diff fluid.
