Icon5 Transfer Case ID numbers and compatibility

I have an 2001 Ranger that the transfer case went out of. I was wondering if any numbers, besides the first 4 in the id number matter.
For example: mine is 13-54-000-037, would 13-54-000-038 or 13-54-000-XXX fit and work with out problems?
Thank you

I just went through this with the numbers. I also have a 2001 Ford Ranger XLT. The number on my transfer case is (Warner) 1354, I.D. #1L54-CC. I purchased one with 51000 miles on it from Nordstrom Auto Salvage online for $250. When I got it the number was 1345 I.D. #3L54-CA. I called them and they told me I have the right part....the number had been updated.

I haven't installed it yet. Anyone have any advice on installment?
