Transmission Fluid Cooler

I have a Bronco II 1989 with 130, 000 miles on it that im getting it ready to go trail riding and some mudding and stuff.I have already flushed and changed the trans filter and also already upgraded the radiator to a 91-94 explorer radiator and I was wondering.....

1. Do yal think that a aftermarket trans cooler would be better than the stock one thats on there?

2. And also if I do swap it for a aftermarket one can they just hook into the pre existing trans lines?

3. Whats a good brand to get?

Thanks Guys for the help
-Josh

1. Aftermarket can be better. But why not both? run the fluid lines through the stock and an aftermarket, the fluids not going to get 2 cold.

2. Most of the aftermarket coolers i've seen use rubber lines not steel lines like stock.

3. Any brand. Not much difference between brands, just size.

ok thanks I do have rubber lines that run down from the stock cooler to the steel lines. Should I run it from the aftermarket one then through the stock one. And will it need more fluid?

Any aftermarket cooler bigger than yours is a step up. Another thing you can do is use a electric fan on the cooler like I did. I was also thinking of by passing the lines to the radiator in the warm seasons.
