transmission slip?

transmission slip?
for 3 or 4 weeks now, in the mornings or when it's really cold, it seems when i pull out on to the highway out of my neighborhood, once i hit some higher rpms, my transmission slips. this may happen anywhere from 0 to 3 times a week and this morning was the worst..it slipped, then jolted into gear, then my overdrive light kept blinking on and off..after school i started it right up and was a little heavy with my right foot, but no slip, and my overdrive worked just fine..anyone had this problem or know what the prob. is?

I have the same setup (2002 3.0 Automatic). Have you changed the fluid and filter? That made a world of difference in mine. I changed over to full synthetic Amsoil fluid (though it's kind of pricey). Regardless of what brand you buy, I'd consider an oil/filter change in the tranny using a premium tranny oil of some kind.

The 4.0L uses the 5R55E and the 2.3L/3.0L use the 5R44E. The 55 is beefier and has an input torque rating of 550 lb-ft instead of 440.
They also use different bell housings to match the bolt patterns of the engine blocks.

LOL! Well I am pretty sure it is basically the same valve body... He should look into getting an updated one. That has been a severe problem with the autos in our trucks. I am on my 3rd vb

the valve bodys are different, the case is different, no parts interchange.
i have a "shift correction" kit i installed in mine, its made by superior products, did wonders for the 5r44e in my truck, of course i also have a conection at a local ford dealer who re programed the computer when it was in for the fluid recall, now it actuley goes into 3rd gear with less then 25% throtle.

Strange. According to the service manual almost all the interior parts are the same and the housing is the same between the 5R44E and 5R55E. Don't know if that's an oversight or not. Main differences appear to be in the bell housing, torque converter, and input shaft. Not much difference otherwise.

How long have you been working on these transmissions? There are slight differences in the two(as John said) but overall they are ALL based on the wonderful A4LD. I offer a high performance valve body for the 5r55e as well as servo upgrades, and 3 different shift "improvement" kits. That I do know, I just wasnt sure of the differences in the valve bodies between the two models.
