i have a 1987 ranger with a 2.3 liter and a 5 speed. i was curiouse to know if i could swap in a mustang 4 cyl 5 speed. i want something with a shorter throw. is there any performance parts for the tranny i have?

 

why not just add a short throw shifter?

anyway ur current trans Toyo Koygo if ur a 2wd or a Toyo Koygo or a Mistu 5 speed.

IIRC the 4 pot mustangs used a T-5. so to swap them u'd need to address the lenght of the trans via crossmemeber mounting, driveshaft lenght and weather ur has a mechanical or hydro clutch V. the t-5. plus the input shaft lenght may come into plau

physically it should bolt up. ur current trans has a 3.96 first gear ratio and a .85 OD ratio V the T-5s 3.97 first and .85 OD so theres no real difference there.

anybody think the tranny i listed above could take the abuse of a 4x4 truck? would it fit without driveshaft modification?
