transmission swap question

transmission swap question
Im wanting to do a swap on my 2000 auto to a manual. do i need to find a truck that is the same year as mine to take everything from? Or can i take everything from a 97, ect.? I have the 4.0 ohv with 4wd

You dont need the same year. Would help if you pull the ECU out of the same truck you got the trans from. Its not a hard swap to do. If you can buy a donor truck with everything makes it simple.

since mine is a 4.0 will a 3.0 trans work in mine? ive heard that its the same but i want to double check
