VERY hard shifting

Hey. I've looked and searched on these and other forums for this problem, and haven't found a case quite like mine.

When I shift into drive (or reverse) from park, neutral, or reverse (or drive), I'll have to wait 3-4 seconds for it to shift into drive (or reverse), and when it does, you'll feel and hear this incredibly loud clunk and you can actually see the truck "bounce" when it "finishes" shifting into drive (or reverse).

Not only that, but it also shifts hard going into and out of any/all gears when driving normally.

I became extremely baffled after realizing it doesn't hinder my MPG in any way (17.5mpg combined). Any ideas of what it is or what to do? Thanks!

K so I checked the fluid level, and it's where it should be. I don't think my problem is the fluid level.

When I checked my fluid level, the truck was at normal running temperature and I checked it on a level surface. The fluid level was within the hatched markings, just like the manual said where it should be.
