What differentiel do i have?

Hi,

Sorry if this as been asked somewhere but i dint find it...i wa wondering what kind of differential my ranger has. more imprtantly if ist open or as any kind of lsd...i always though ranger cam stock with open diff...then i went and found a hill where i could put 1 tire on packed snow and 1 on clear pavement....i gave slowly gas and as my tire in the snow start spinning my other wheel locked and started to grip... i was wondering how can i know exactly what do i have in my trucks... thx

The axle will have either 3 numbers with a space after the first one, or an 'L' in that space. what this is is gear ratio and whether you have limited slip or not. Mine reads '4L10" which means 4.10 gears, and limited slip. If theres a space, like "4 10" then its an open diff..

Depends on who you take it to and how they charge, but I'm guessing $400 to $600 plus the cost of the parts.
