Hello everyone i am new to the site and kinda in the middle of fixing my clutch. i was wandering if anyone knows of a thread that goes over the complete replacement. i searched but didnt have any luck. also i have i 93 2 wheel drive if it matters, thanks for any help in advance.

 

There isn't a complete how-to covering it.......when i did my first swap, i used a chiltons/haynes manual. worked out good. clutch swaps on rear-wheel drive vehicles are pretty much universal.....quick over view....

remove shaft
unclip hydraulic line at slave
remove shifter
remove exhaust if you need to
remove trans
remove clutch
remove flywheel, and have it resurfaced at the machine shop
replace pilot bearing on flywheel and install it
replace slave cyl
replace clutch(use alignment tool)
put trans back in, carefully so you don't bend the disc
put driveshaft back on
put exhaust back on
bleed clutch system using new DOT3 or better fluid
drive.

Everything to do this uses basic hand tools.

 

i am stuck on the hydraulic line right now i cant figure out how to get it out

 

There is a special removal tool for taking the hydraulic line off. You can do it without it but it's not fun. Where the hydraulic line attaches to the slave cylinder, there is a white sleeve/bushing that needs to be pushed in, towards the trans if I remember correctly, that releases the hydraulic line.

 

Believe me...you want the tool!! I did two slave swaps w/o it, and couldn't get it off when i did the master cyl swap......and now that i have the tool, i don't know why I didn't spend $6 four years ago! Best tool ever!

 

Is it the same (or similar style) tool you use to remove the fuel filter lines?

 

completely different.

 

I tried to use that tool and i couldn't get the right leverage on it so I used a screw driver. basicly when your taking off the line you have to push that white clip in. When you think its in far enough it isn't even close. Keep pushing it in there until you can't see it anymore and then it will be close to coming off.

 

Once you use the special tool, you'll never go back to a screwdriver.

 

Where do you get the tool? I just went to auto-zone and they said I was crazy and no such thing existed. So I went to advanced auto parts and they didnt have it ethier and I'm replacing my slave this weekd.

 

go to annother place....autozone sucks imo. they know NOTHING.

 

The only person there was this old lady, Every time I go there and ask for something she says they dont have and to check one of the aisles. They should have employees with some knowledge about auto parts. I'm going to hit Napa tommorow, Thats the only other place here that I can think of that might have it.
