what would i expect to pay for a rebuilt tranny

Tried the route of pulling a tranny from the junk yard and ended up with another ragged out piece of crap so im just going to have my original transmission rebuilt.. Does anyone have any idea what I can expect to pay for this? Thanks for any input

depends how far you go. ive seen anywhere from 1500-5K. having it out of the truck will help you big time.

buy a manual and do it yourself. I did the trans in 0RangerEdge2's truck when we swapped it to 4x4 and with a new converter, complete friction/steel kit with raybestos red clutches and bands i think it was about $400 in parts...i rebuilt the valve body, so if you need a new valve body, tack $200-$300 on

$1600 out the door for a total rebuild. Heres what happened. Naively I Just went the way of installing a low mile 42,000 tranny out of a wrecked truck( which was really short sighted on my part). After the install I was told by the mechanic that I have a 90 day warranty and to "drive it like I stole it" . Well, i did, and broke it.
I brought the truck back 3 days later after it started bucking in 1st and 2nd gear, they installed another used piece of crap tranny that still wasn't right. So the owner just ended up rebuilding my original tranny, at no charge to me, at a local specialist. Also, Ended up changing up all 3 cats with some hi-flow aftermarket units as well while they were under there..Moral of the story.. Dont believe what anyone says about used transmissions.. Always go for a rebuild

Late to the party, but having my tranny rebuilt 2 years ago set me back $2600.
