93 6 cylinder 4.0

This truck has had zero problems! I went into the store yesturday, and came back out.. when I pulled onto the main road it would go over 30 MPH! I immediately thought trans.. so I changed the fluid, filter and gasket. Still nothing.. could I need a brand new trans? wouldnt I have felt it before? What else should I check?

 

I knew a guy that had a similar problem. He had best-buy install a stereo in his car, and after that it wouldn't shift out of first. Turns out the put the dash on crooked and when the gear selector said D, it was actually in 1st.

Yours sounds a bit more complicated, just thought that was a good story. Is it bogging down and not have enough power to go over 30mph, or is it not shifting?

 

weird because best buy put a stereo in mine, and I just took it out... hmmm

well it will just rev high and not gear up, so I can give it gas forever and it will stay at 30.

 

Check your fuse on my mine truck it shifted from 1St to 3rd to 5 and the problem was a fuse you can check that

 

same thing i changed the oil in the trans filter every and it was the same and i was thinking trans is done

still think my $700 offer is bad lol and your comment of how could i have seen the truck.. before you moved to yips i used to see it about once a week easy its kinda hard to miss... i know all my old vehicles


guys this is my old orange splash... what it have on it now over 160K? i know i sold it just shy of 140k...that trans is prob very unhappy

 

Something like this happened with my parents 96 windstar. Was driving and all of a sudden it was stuck in 3rd gear and wouldn't shift. I dont remember what they did to fix it, but it wasn't cheap.

press the clutch and put it in the next gear... (oh thats right, I only know how to drive stick)
