2000 2wd Ranger automatic.
Does anyone know what happend?
Or do I just need to buy a new tranny?

 

Yeah I can drive it in 2nd. Ive been driving it in 2nd for about 2 weeksk now. Its my only form of transportatoin.

 

Sounds like some sort of "kickdown" problem, after my friend had his tranny rebuilt in his F150 it started out in 2nd gear sometimes, wouldnt downshift when you wanted, and the OD light flashed a lot of the time.. if the OD light isn't flashing, you may just try resetting the computer, like take the negative cable off the battery for 20 mins or so.

 

Where is that sensor located on the truck?

Get it checked by a computer. You might be surprised that it's just something simple. Computer problem or something. Computer issues can get expessive though too but not as bad as a new tranny. Be optimistic!

 

i had the same thing happen to my first car, go buy a cheap tranny from jasper!
