3.0 Camshaft Synchronizer (98-08) - NY
Motorcraft DA-2089 Camshaft Synchronizer (1998-2008)
Used for a couple hundred hours before I sold my truck.

The synchronizer is responsible for two things:
1) sending signals to the camshaft position sensor (CPS)
2) connecting the camshaft to the oil pump
It connects to the camshaft with a gear. If for some reason the gear teeth wear out or break, you will lose the oil pump. If you don't catch it in time, your engine will be toast! It's recommended to change them at 100,000 miles. More information is listed in the link below.
