04 XLT Driving lights

I am planning to add more lighting to my Ranger that did not come with driving lights. Do the areas where the lights would be pop out, or do I need to cut them?

dur? do you mean fog lights on the valance?

you need to get a 4x4 or edge valance with the fog holes and fog lights if you want it to look stock if you dont care just cut away...

um.. you would need the 4x4/EDGE valance to have them foglights plug and play (like Zach pointed out)

Your stock XLT bumper would not work with the foglight in the picture.

On my '03 they don't pop out. The recessed area is molded in, at least on my '03 it is and there are no hardware mounting points for the fog lights to bolt/screw in. The '04 and up models may be different, and probably are but I'm not sure. If you were good with plastic adhesives and epoxy stuff (like I am not) you could probably graft these fog light assemblies into the bumper as they appear to be nearly the same shape as the openings on a pre -04 bumper valance "where the fog lights should be" area. It would be alot more pleasing to the eyes to just invest in a new bumper and valance that already has the fog lights and openings that have the mounting hardware. Thats what I am looking to buy right now as I ruined one stock '03 2wd XLT valance trying to graft in some foglights.

Glad to hear, I got to go check mine out a little better to be sure, but now I know what to look for. Apparently a change was made on 2004.

I checked it out, and he is indeed correct! My wife's 2006 Explorer is the same way!! I see a project coming! Where can I tie into to have them come on automatically with the key. I suspect I should run a relay?
