I would like to know if and what stock front skid plates will fit my 99 4x4. Also I just installed a body lift, will that effect the stock plate? Where do I get one?

 

nope wont effect anything go ahead and put it on there like $120 from the dealer new if you cant find one

Any factory plate from 98-up should work on your 99.

Prices from a few months ago, should be close:

98~2000 front skid plate (stainless):

Level II front skid plate (black):

The factory plates are OK for casual offroading but not rocks or heavy bashing.

Here's a Ranger skid plate from a fab shop. It is reinforced with 2" x 0.120" wall tubing.

Does anyone know if explorers came with a skid plate? Are any of them compatable with the 98 or newer rangers?

 

I've never seen an Explorer with a factory front plate.
