another lights questions

so i had some small fog lights on my bumper a couple years back until i t-boned a dakota (not my fault, she got 4 tickets..i got a rental and a damage bill her insurance covered) and i havent since had foglights. SO i need some advice after doing some of my own reading/research

i want a simple, nothing fancy set of foglights that can basically help to give me some better beam width. theyd help out on the roads around here on some late/long drives from work or wherever.
i want these to be kind of small and maybe mount them on the sides of my license plate (2000XLT bumper).

also, i want a pretty decent set of longer range driving lights. something that if im on the highway alone late at night, or around here on the backroads, i can flip them on and light up the road better ahead of me. i see a lot of 130/150watt kits by KC. are these street legal or will they be blindingly light to anyone that seems them. also, not sure if they should go right on the bumper or in the grill, etc.

i've thought about going with a HID kit, but i know if i jumped to that level, id end up having to spend a lot more money than id want.
tried to do some searching but nothing really focused on my direct questions.

thanks for any advice.

EDIT...i DID in fact read zach's light thread...it was VERY informative but i just needed this bit extra kick.

I've got the KC 130w long range slim lights, they throw alot of light and definately help far beyond what the headlights can do. They are not street legal. If you're on back roads you should be ok, just make sure the swith is easy to get to so you can flip them off quick.

thanks for the info. ya i figured judging by the candlepower output that the higher wattages werent street legal, but around here, and with a convenient switch as you said, i should be alright. are yours right on your bumper? also, how are they along the sides? i feel like id still benefit from a simple set of "ditch" lights

I made a set of 'light tabs' that bolt to the back side of the bumper, I didn't want to be drilling holes in the bumper. You can get the brackets from a couple different vendors on the site.
Like I said I got the long range lights, they do just what the name says: long range light - straight ahead, nothing really to the sides.

^^^ ya, those look good. i think when i get back from school this spring ill surely be bolting on a pair. the brackets are something i can fab up myself which as you said, will be nice to not be drilling through my bumper. are their any airbag sensors in that area? or are they lower in the bumper? don't want to be drilling through any of them
