I was recently given an ARE fiberglass tonneau cover that was on a little 96 2wd Toyota, I'd like to keep it just because it's got some memories(buddy who had it moved to Idaho) but its too wide for my stepside, the lifters work perfect the locking mechanism is broke and it needs paint. My dad just wants it out of his garage so I need to think quick, what if I removed the lifters/ frame and mounted them on a 4'x6' sheet of plywood, made my own latch and bedline/seal the plywood?
