You can remove the bars without removing the 'bolts'/studs up front. Just undo the nuts and the bar is off up front. You don't even have to fully undo them...just loosen them some and the bar will slide out of the stud.

To get the studs out, you'll need to lift up your carpet where your feet would be while driving. Pop off the bodymount rubber grommet/cap, then snake the bracket out of the cavity.

i took mine off by 6 bolts either side. two up front and one in the back or something. i was under the truck and when i loosened the rear, then the front, i slid the nerf bar back and they came right out. no need to go into the cab or remove any grommets.

the bolts up front are in a cage no need for a wrench

You guys realize you can remove the front mounting studs from the bottom right? You just lift up on the stud mount and fish it out the big hole in the crossmember. I bought my running boards off a brand new 09 Ranger and I personally removed them myself. This is how I removed the stud mount and reinstalled it in my 04. I remember thinking to myself as I was taking them off his truck, "great I'm gonna have to leave that mount behind cause it doesn't look like its gonna come out of the frame."
