'Budget' Box Liner
'Budget' Box Liner
Has anyone used the texturized rubber undercoating as a poor man's box liner? I'm thinkin a couple cans of non-paintable 'sticky' undercoating will be a good substitute for a couple hundred dollar box-liner.
IMO there's a reason its called rubber under-coat. Its for underneath and will not take the abuse a bed liner would. I'd buy the hurculiner kit I believe I paid 100 bucks for it and it has held up well. I was in the same boat as you I didn't have the cash for linex and got tired of everything sliding on my plastic liner.
Hmmm. Only thing is I've heard in order for it to work properly you have to grind down to bare metal and I really don't want to have to deal with rust issues. Have you had any issues or did you do something different to rust proof it?
the Under Coating doesn't do well with the sun it will fad and look terrible. i have hurculiner and i have a rubber made box in the back under my tonneau cover not tied down and it hasn't moved at all
Bed mats don't protect the sides. I realize its a bush-beater but I really can't stand trucks with scratched up boxes. And I'm planning on have my shovel, Hi-lift and axe on mounts on the side of the bed.
Oh opps not sure
