Busted the Rear Glass..

Well, I Finally hurt my truck.. Got in the truck this morning.. Was going to POTUS detail, looking around for my oakleys, and i see an empty beer bottle in the back from my buddy the night before.. I was PISSED.. not only can that get me kicked off the detail, i can loose my liscence for that.. So, i open the rear window, toss the bottle into the bed, and close the window.. like normal, not hard or anything.. Then CRACK>> the right side( if you are looking at it from inside the truck) window cracks, and i mean spidered into a million little cracks.. im soo lucky it didnt bust..

Im kinda amazed at how week that glass is though.. i shut it like i do every time.. i guess the latch much have hit it just right.. Well, i go today to the glass plase to see how much it will be to replace it..

ill post up pics when i get back from takin the Secret Service guys to the airport

well, finally went and got quotes for the glass. i didnt know that they had to replace the WHOLE thing.. i guess its all one unit.. The first place quoted me at 800 euros with labor, one week to get the part.. The second place was 400 euros with labor and 2 weeks to get the part.. So im gunna go with the second lol..

Well, you answered my question, I guess, which is, can the middle section be installed separately? Someone busted mine last night and also bled on the console. At least the truck bit them back.

Can anyone verify that: can the middle part--the sliding door--be replaced separately?

Thanks,
Scout

pretty sure it can yes.

Damn James that sucks. I have beat the crap out have mine and worked on it hard getn my slider open with a knife and screwdriver when I locked my keys in, and it never broke. I thought it was gona be a given, I planned for it to break actually heh.

Oh and btw, If you lock your keys in the truck with it running, you cant open the doors with a key fob. I was SOL and late for work

I busted out my slider in my 97 trying to get my keys out one day. The glass place here told me they could of replaced any other window but the slider. I'm not sure if thats true or not because our glass place kinda sucks. I found a used rear window and swapped it in for $50. It only bolts in anyway.

It's because even the back glass doesn't want to be bothered by the POTUS BS.

You know you don't have to bust out your slider, right? I'm not gonna tell you how to do it, but you don't have to bust your window when you lock yourself out.

I learned about the trick the day after I busted it out. I felt like stupid.
