Clear Corners, where'd you get 'em?
Having a lot of free time on my hands lately, I've been thinking about switching my old yellow corner lights for a (CHEAP) new set of clear corners.
Of course, the first place I looked was the evilBay & ran across a slew of clear corners such as these LINK I like the look of this style, the same as the OEM lights only clear and the price is right at less than $20 a pair. Just wondering if anybody has bought any of the evilBay parts & how the build quality is (mounting holes & screws, etc.) I imagine most of these parts come from overseas. It's been a while since I removed the corner lights (and it's too cold to go outside & take them apart right now)... the OEM turn signal bulbs are clear aren't they? Thanks |
Looks like a good deal to me...I got the clears for my 98 on eBay...similar "OEM only clear" design and I was happy with the build quality (for the price). There were a couple of small imperfections in the side facing reflectors where it looks like the reflective material wasn't evenly applied but that was the only noticeable "cheap" thing about them...they were a direct replacement for my old corners.
The bulbs currently in your stock corners will be clear. I'd recommend replacing them with amber since in your model year that light also functions as your side marker light, and most state/federal laws require an amber front side marker light. It'll be fairly inexpensive for you since it's only one pair of bulbs to replace. I had to replace 2 pairs...the amber parking light/turn signal bulbs run about $5/pair; same as the clear bulbs. Also keep in mind it looks like the side reflector on the linked corner lights is white instead of amber, which I'm pretty sure is a violation of the federal DOT requirements but doesn't seem to be as big of a problem with the local PD if you have an amber bulb behind it. |
I got mine at the local travel agency (bought used from someone who worked there)
If you get those you are seeing on ebay, the surrounding will be white, so you will either have to do the headlightmod and switch the backing from your old ones, or do what most do and get out the black sharpie and color the surrounding black. |
ebay...there are some with the black casing too
you could always go with 06-09 corners |

Ain't this a slap in the sack!??!
I bought my clear corners a few days ago & now the guy's evilBay account is closed. Don't know if I'll get 'em or not. |
I got mine off ebay back in April. No problems so far.
|
I go my first set of clear corners from ebay, no problems with them. Sold those and they are on another members truck. Now I have a set of black headlights and corners, no problems with them either,
|
i got mine off ebay for 25.00 i have a 2000 ranger!

The black backings are getting harder and harder to find. I would not recommend doing the headlight mod on eBay corners, the quality is not the same. I've tried doing it twice and both broke before they would pry apart. The ebay corners, when in the oven, the housing melted before the lense seperated, but it didn't matter, I only wanted the lense. |

they dont make clear corners for mazdas 98 or newer for some reason even though im sure a large percentage of people on this board with mazdas would buy em.

My lights actually showed up today.... only downside is that one was cracked.
They look 99% exactly like OEM other than the color. No FORD imprint, but they do have the DOT imprints. They have a black ring (looks like it might be the adhesive) that stands out a little, but they're nice otherwise. Just hope the guy stands behind his stuff (or at least by the additional insurance I paid for). |
I have a ebay set and they are pretty good quality. But Beware cuz i just bought some tail lights for my PT Cruiser and they were cheaply made and didnt fit the way i wanted to. They cost 77 bucks and i feel like i got ripped
