Take them off, weld the holes closed and repaint!

The tailgate does not have holes for the emblem. It is just held on by double sided emblem tape. At least mine was on my 08.

Some have alignment holes. i just don't remember which ones. But all of them are double sided taped on, use a piece of fishing line or thin string and work it in between the tailgate and emblem.

Once it gets between the tailgate and emblem, pull towards you (like flossing) there will probably be some sticky residue left over.

Goo gone or goof off will take away any residue.

I use some rubbing alcohol to take off the residue. First thing I do when buying a vehicle is removing the dealership sticker.

use a hairdryer. use some fishing line/floss to get behind it. just get both corners up enough to get your fingers behind it (while heating it with the hairdryer) then just take your two hands and pull it off. from there you can just pick at the residue until it's gone. Use methods mentioned for removing the goo.

Same on my 06, wanted to get rid of it, but those holes would look bad. Maybe when I get it painted one day those holes will get filled when I take the emblem off. Dang thing is expensive
