Destroyed my clear corners
Destroyed my clear corners
yeah.. well i tried the headlight mod on my clear corners first, so incase i messed them up, i could put the stock one's back on. as luck would have it.. i destroyed them, lol.
i started them out on 200degrees, for like 5 mins.. but nothin was moving.. then i tried 250 for 5 mins.. still, nothing.. then i tried 300 for about 3 mins.. took them out, and the back side(that i had it laying on) was melting to the tin foil. i figured, ok, no big deal, i can seperate them, and repair that part later. so i take them out, used a flat blade screw driver to lightly pry it open, and bam.. the lense and the housing warped to the screw driver. i figured it was screwed, but i better try to pry it appart for practice anyway. so i continued.. nothing else really got messed up, but at the same time, it wasnt prying appart at all. i'd feel it start to pry, but then i'd start to get hairline cracks forming. so i gave up. my stock amber corner's are back on the truck right now, sigh.
so, my question is, how does everyone else get this done with out the mess ups??? it seems like if i heat it to what's recommended, the plastic bends like crazy, but still doesnt' seperate!

Don't feel too bad. I tried to put blue strobes running 20 watts each in my clear corners. They were awsome!! Light swept 180 degrees from straight ahead to almost straight back.... until the lenes melted while I was blocking a road at a car accident for an hour or two.
I did the EXACT same thing. My backing warped all crazy....and figured that I could repair the mounting tabs, but they broke and blah blah blah.
So.....lesson learned. I'll be trying this again.....but at 200 for 15 min and with patience......

lol, and Pinecone, i didnt jam the screw driver in it.. i figured it was going to be a pain, so i took it slow expecting it to be.. but yeah, i had the oven set at 300degrees.. the things were bending like crazy.. i could take my hand and basically squeeze them into a liquid if i had wanted, lol. (but amazingly, the damn things wouldnt seperate!)
