Door Hinge Replacement
Door Hinge Replacement
Hi all, Looking for some how to info on replacing the lower driver's side door hinge. This is my mom's truck and the spring on the hinge doesn't hold the door open which makes things difficult for her - she is kinda small. I've got a new Ford hinge and the bolts etc are removed but I can't get the hinge out. There is not enough room to get the stud on the hinge clear of the mounting hole.
Can the hinge be removed without removing the door? Is there a trick to getting it out without removing the door?
Thank you

Since no one responded I'll give the answers I found by working on the truck.

No, the stud attached to the hinge makes removing it nearly impossible to remove the old one. There wasn't an angle that would let the hinge, once unbolted, to wiggle out.
We took the truck to a local body shop and they said it is about a 2 hour job - with the equipment they have. So it cost under $120 to remove the door etc.
