Dual Antennas

I've been reading the threads about the useless dual antenna on the ranger and went to buy a single coax... used it and it worked pretty good. It seemed like it cut down on static.. a lot. But I SWR'd it and i got better readings with my dual...
i dont really understand this
is SWR for transmitting only?

Should I check out a better brand of single coax? I bought the AStatic one I believe
and i have barjan co-pahse coax that came with my dual kit

SWR is only a function of transmitting and has nothing to do with the number of antennas. You need to properly tune the antenna in order to tune the SWR.

Coax is coax is coax for the most part and it isn't going to change SWR. It is simply a matter of tuning the antenna length.
