edge conversion
can some list me the connections to a site thats sells edge or fx4 conversion parts? i have an '04 xlt, but i wanna convert it into either an edge or fx4.
i need the fender flairs & anything else you guys may come up of that would classify it as an edge. |
Fender Flares, color matched lower valance, color matched rear bumper, color matched headlight surround, color matched grille surround.
That and the stickers if you want them are all that I can think of. |
honey comb grill

I am not the best with photochopping, but I am sure that someone out there will be able to help you out with that. As far as cost, your best bet will be to find the pieces that you need in a salvage yard. It can get expensive to do all at once. The biggest appearance change would be the lower valance and bumper.

well you dont really need a photochop id just find an edge or fx4 same year as urs since thats what it would look like
and also i dont think they have edges in that color but i guess you could get all the stuff painted. and u already have honeycomb girlle, ud just need to paint that chrome around it |
sanity,
so the truck i have now, they don't make em in that color for an edge, what bout fx4? Sonic, u know what suxs i replaced all of that stuff u mentioned in june due to an accident, but i went the cheap route & got the auto body shop to replace everything in stock condition.... b/c @ time i was thinking of selling her, b/c i'm w/o an license for awhile... but it appears i'm gonna hang on to my beaut for awhile & just stiff it out.... |
|
well yeah they dont have the edges in your color so you'd have to get your parts painted.
and the fx4 level-II isnt in your color, but the only thing you would need painted on that woule be the chome around your grille. they make the FX4- Offroad in your color though, but all you need to do is get some fender flares to make yours look like one, and slap on an FX4 sticker. and also your wheels are different and your truck doesnt sit as high i think, but if you put the fender flares(not color-coated like on edges) on yours it will look like the FX4 and if im wrong about anything or i left anything out let me know |
and that blue edge that 2x4XLT posted is a 01-03 body style, so that grille and valence is different
the grille on yours would work fine for an edge or FX4- offroad, but on edge or FX4 Level-II you'll need to color-coat part of it |
whats part would i have to color coat?
sanity so ur sayin to me all i need to do is get the fender trims & i'll have an fx4 lookin truck w/stickers on it? |
youd need to color-coat the chrome around your grille, then get those fender flares, and put the stickers on it. thats what ive come up with so far, but im still searching for good examples of your color. if you use AIM, IM me on noodle557 if you want.

how much higher does an fx4 sit & whats the tire diff. of the xlt & fx4?
|
Sure sounds like you're going through a lot for no reason. For the money you're going to spend you can spend $100 on a rollpan and $300 for that sexy front valance I can't afford and you've got something just as nice...
=john= |
post pics of what your talkin about bro, i'm a newb
|
dont go with rollpan and all that. give it the flares and stuff. itll look rugged.
make it look like a 4x4, cause thats what it is, right? |

The FX4 Level II has different sized wheels and wider, more aggressive A/T tires. and a grill surround that is body color matched instead of chrome. A 2004 LII also had stainless J tow hooks that were not available on other Ranger 4x4s. An Edge 4x4 has body color matched grille surround, fender flares, bumpers and fascia. It has the same sized tires and the same wheels as your XLT. All three above have fender flares - black on the FX4's and color matched on the Edges. These require that you drill a lot of holes in the outside of the fender sheet metal. Once you do that, you are committed to the flares because removing them will expose the holes. All three above have a fascia designed for their standard foglamps. Your XLT 4x4 V/A has a different fascia. You have a 2-door Supercab. 2004 Edge 4x4's could be ordered with either 2-door or 4-door Supercabs or a Regular cab. Both FX4 models are 4-door Supercab only. Note that these are just some of the major cosmetic differences. These other models also have mechanical differences and vary in standard and optional equipment as well. Suggestion: Go down to your local dealer and pick up a 2005 Ranger brochure before they're gone. The 2005 and 2004 are nearly identical and you can study the equipment differences and look at some pictures of the various models. |
if you really want a complete EDGE/FX4 conversion go for it but i think all you really want is gonna be the color matched fascia and possibly the fender flares. Save yourself some money and keep the conversion as simple as that, it will still look great. invest the rest of the money you would have to spend into stuff that will make every trip in the truck more enjoyable.

http://www.stylinconcepts.com/part.a.../CategoryID/25 that's what I'm talking about for the nose.
|
i like that but i wonder if it'll look good on an 4x4 that'll 1 day have 33'' tires
|
I can't see it looking any different then the Edge nose would with big tires.
