Fog light shroud question

so i was looking around on r/f and i came across a forum were someone was taking about how someone had did a mod were they took their round factory fog lights, opened them up and removed the "shroud" that surrounds the bulb, making it a "flood" light.

i am still trying to find out what the "shroud" looks like i have a idea i just want to make sure i understand what it is before i start talking the fog lights apart

so , if anyone has pics or a link to pics were theirs more detail on how to do this mod or if someone has done this mod that can put some more light on it i would appreciate it

thanks
Josh

HAHA...I did this a few months back to my truck. The result: near the same output and gave more spread of light from the driver's point of view. But....makes the fog light significantly brighter to oncoming traffic. Something I like. And I've got HID's.

01-03's is a simple phillips head screw. 04-07 I believe is 'clipped' in. 08+ no clue. STX no clue.

it just spreads the light. it makes the light a less focused beam.

Here's where I found out about the mod...

Generation-Edge.info Forum - bad day , but new mod !

04-07 you've gotta bake the lamps I believe...alot light headlight mod. At least according to the link. 01-03 just unclip apart.

Here's mine...

And well...I dont know exactly why, but the one side I did do is significantly brighter than the side that was left stock. I'm running 6000k HID's in my fogs, but I normally run 3000k's. I left the up/down adjustment screw in the same position, I didn't touch that other than to take the housing apart.

Guess which side I did the mod to?
