Alcoa wheels
31x10.5 BFG AT's
Extend the breather lines (so i've heard)
Torsen Limited Slip
31 spline 8.8 axles.
Chrome tow hooks in front

Those are the differences I know of between an FX4 and a Level 2 from the Factory.

I have the 8.8 already i think with L/S not sure if they're different.

 

You have a 28 spline axle, with a clutch pack LS. There's two varieties of the 8.8

31 spline is stronger, Torsen is gear driven, so in theory theres nothing to wear out.

I tried to get a regular FX4 when I got my truck, but they had my Level 2 and I got a better deal on it.

I didnt learn all the extras I got until a few months later.

 

Alcoa's and chrome hooks only come on L2's... I'm almost sure of.

 

Yeah, all the things I listed only come on L2's.

He said he has a regular FX4 and wanted to know what to do to make it a L2. I said to add the following.

Cant forget the tcase and gastank skid...but that might come on the L1 models...idr. OH...SEATS! Black with red or blue insert.

 

OH! Gauge cluster!

 

I think all FX4's have the same gauge cluster. I may be wrong I've only been in another Level 2.

And yes, cant forget the seats...I know I love mine. Black with red inserts.

FX4 regulars have the tcase and gas skid already. Level 2 has the front skid.

 

what about the 4.10's / w the Torsen diff?

 

Oh geeze I mentioned the Torsen.

I listed the differences between a LEVEL ONE FX4 and a LEVEL TWO FX4.
AFAIK BOTH HAVE 4.10's.

'02 had the same black gauges as the rest of the ranger models.
'03 has the same silver gauges as the rest of the XLT ranger models.
'04+ has black with silver trim around the gauges. Regular FX4 and all the other models got black with black trim rings.
