GRRRR...clear corner issue. need ideas...

Ok, so I got a set of clear corners off Ebay. WEEEEEE excitement. right. I'm hoping someone has had a similar issue.
Here's a picture of the problem and I'll explain below...

:261:
So the clear corner is on the left and the stock corner is on the right. These are both the right side corners. Can anyone tell me where the problem is? Anyone? Bueller? lol Ok, so that's not the best picture either. The wide notch for the bulb holder is in the wrong location. If you put the bulb into the factory housing, it's designed so it will only go in one way and spin one direction, up...so that you can connect the harness to it. The clear corner on the left has the notch in the wrong spot so the holder doesn't rotate to the correct location, which prevents you from connecting the harness. seems like a design flaw to me.
Has anyone else had a similar issue with their aftermarket corners? I don't really want to do any "modifications" to the light before I find out what the seller says. Any ideas or thoughts would be appreciated guys. Thanks.

Maybe I could...bake all 4 of them, paint the factory ones and use the clear lenses off the Ebay ones? lol the left side ones are fine. fit perfectly. damnit they look so sweet on the truck too lol How long does it take to bake a corner? lol 250 for say, 5 minutes?

RangerJustin 01-12-2009 03:09 PM

I think mine did that too, I just inserted the housing at the right angle and it was fine. but I am guessing you did that and the wiring is in the way to get it back in?

Who did you buy from?

I'm having a hard time getting the bulb holder to even twist on because its bottoming out on the housing itself. This is what it looks like just pushing the holder in without locking it into place. This isn't the best picture, but you get the idea...

dotcomracing on Ebay. I just sent him an email. He should get back to me today since he's 3 hours behind me. We'll see what he says. If he tells me to send them back, Ihave a decision to make. I'd really like to get the clear black corners, so I can either bake the stock and the Ebay ones, swap the lenses and paint the chrome background on the stockers or I can try to buy a set of clears with a chrome back, bake them and paint them. I don't really see the point of spending more money though. I really like the 06 corners and would love to paint them, but I'm not too excited about putting a $70.00 pair of corners in the oven lol

crawly1025 01-12-2009 03:48 PM

Ok, I think I might have an idea. I think I might take the stock corners, bake them, paint the inside of them black and then put the orange lenses back on. I saw a set similar to that on Ebay and kinda liked the look. We'll see if I feel the same way after I get them apart....er melt them lol

My clears were absolutely identical in construction to the stock ones. that sucks, but i guess is one of the risks involved with ebay

crawly1025 01-12-2009 04:26 PM

yea. live and learn i suppose right? lol sometimes you're the windshield, sometimes you're the bug.

**Corners currently in oven** Once I'm done, I'll post pictures and see what you guys think.

crazymikey 01-12-2009 04:56 PM

Looking forward to seeing results.

Don't bake them. I tried doing a set of those corners and the plastic cracked before they would come apart.

Ok, so I baked the factory corners and painted them. 250 for about 8 minutes, popped right apart. I'm getting pretty good at this baking lights thing lol
I'm going to try and send back the Ebay ones. I didn't want to chance destroying them in the oven. I'm actually pretty happy with the results. I'm sure not everyone will like the look, but I think it looks good. That's what matters right? lol Anyways, here's the results...

Once the UPS man brings my HID's and I get everything put back together, I'll snap some day and night pictures.

Thanks. That Krylon Fusion Satin is such awesome paint. Really easy to work with and it goes on perfect. :104[1]:

Very nice!

Did you spread out the led's or did they come like that? The ones I have are all bunched up.

If you're careful, you can spread them out just a little to try and get some better coverage.

Damn that looks good!!

I'll have to try that the next time I take them out. Thanks.

Just so you don't mess up your bulbs, mine is a Jam Strait wedge bulb. Got it at Auto Zone. Don't force them to move, if they don't seem to want to go anywhere, I'd let them be lol Good Luck!

00Ranger 01-12-2009 10:25 PM

They came out really nice . . . good job

zabeard 01-12-2009 10:34 PM

i should have done the stockers, my aftermarket ones melted bad

crazymikey 01-12-2009 10:43 PM

That looks awesome. Way better than Nteshading the lenses ever would have looked.

Nice job!

now that i know the temp and time im tempted to bake apart my mazda corners and see if i can somehow remove the amber reflector .... gotta wait till the rents arent around though they had a fit when i did the headlights on my old accord and painted those.

Just take small steps...maybe 5 minutes first and see if you can get them to wiggle a little. Theymake a really weird squeaking noise when they're going to come apart lol
