Hella mod

Hey guys
i was woundering if anyone has thought about modifing some fog lights with some small dim lights so you can turn them on at night and not get hassled by the cops.
i was also thinking of makeing some halos (angle eyes) for inside the lens but havent decided yet

i have 5 hella 500 series on my roof rack and would like to put lights in them so they would have a glowing/ luminated effect with out them blinding people

please feel free for any input or suggestions

thanks and god bless
-Andy

If all you want is them to light up, but not to full intensity, you can just drill a hole in the housings and use a 194 bulb and bulb holder and have them wired up to like your parking lamp feed or their own seperate circuit on a switch.

But...you may run into the issue of someone calling those not just parking lights, you risk them being considered headlights and most states call 4 or 6 the maximum allowed forward facing lights(excluding park/running lamps).

You can get those flexible LED strips... maybe pull the lights apart and run them around the edge on the inside?

Shane's idea would work great. Just be sure to seal the hole up good.

Yeah....I've always been wanting to do Ultra Violet 3mm LED's in my corner and backup lights just for the look and the fact I like purple. lol. It was just a 3mm in the vent hole and it lit it up just enough for a cool look. Same theory, but to a larger, more legal scale. lol. 194's are only like 3w and each light'll cost you basically nothing if you've got a bunch of 80s chevy fullsize vans.... just snip snip the pigtails.

I don't understand.... 194's take up MAYBE 3/4" in the housing including the pigtail/bulb holder. Hell my corner lights have tighter clearences than off road lights do, and you can fit 168's in the corners.

In my head, I picture seeing a hole drilled below the normal bulb, then the 194 or 169 is sorta aimed upward in the housing.
