I wanted to get an HID kit that retained high and low beams, but I heard too many horror stories with the solenoids on the Bi-xenon's going bad. Also I didn't want the kit with a halogen high beam and HID low because that would defeat the purpose of going HID.

Therefore I bought the kit I did. Uses two separate HID bulbs on the same bulb housing. No moving parts so I shouldn't have issues there. Mounting is what I'm worried about. With 2 ballasts per bulb, it might be a tight squeeze but I'll maintain the high and low function with HID on both. Should be reliable.

I paid a little more than the solenoid or low only kits, but I think it'll be worth it. I decided to go with a 6000k temperature because they didn't have 4300k like I wanted. I want the maximum lumen output, and these will provide that. Eventually I'll be getting the H10/9145 fog light HID kit.

EDIT: The HID Kit has arrived an initially it looks like a good kit. Relay harness and everything is there along with mounting brackets, screws, nuts and bolts.

EDIT #2: The kit is in. Took about an hour to install. Was tricky mounting two ballasts per side. Light output seems good, but it's not dark yet so I really don't know. It also appears that the high and low are correct when selected unlike some telescopic kits that are backwards.

I don't think you understand what you've ordered, it's a 9007 HID bulb with a Halogen 55w bulb/filament mounted to the same base. Look in the picture chart of the bulbs, "9007-3(swing)" is what you bought (I'm 90% sure).

You would have been better off buying a telescoping Bi-Xenon kit.

EDIT - I could be very wrong.

EDIT #2 - Very wrong as usual, I missed the -4 you posted. I'm curious to see how it works.

Nope. Look at the 9007-4 bulb. 9007-2 bulbs have the halogen high beam and HID low. 9007-3 is the telescopic.

Also look at the auction description. It'll show 4 ballasts. Why would any other kit require 4?

I realized that after I posted, I've never seen this setup before. Keep us updated on how it performs, seems like it could work exceptionally well or be a royal pain in the cheeks.

I'm hoping this kit works well. It was still on the cheap side ($160) but I have faith in it. Also the company is based in California so returns won't be so bad unlike the Asian companies on eBay.

The only part that worries me is the overall wiring. I know some people have had issues with the ballasts not firing at the same time and needing a relay harness. I may or may not need something like that for these, but since only two ballasts are on at any given time, there shouldn't be issues.

Just get single beam. I dealt with 3 different hi/low beam kits, all with issues.

The solenoid's had these problems:
First, the lights are not solid. hit a bump and you lights flicker.
Hi and low beam was reversed, so I hade to rebuild the entire wiring harness. PITA!

the "dual" light bulbs:
The halogen hi beam was weaker than the Xenon low beam. Unable to switch them up so the halogen was illuminated when i selected low beams.

True "Dual Xenon" lights:
Expensive.
low beams burnt out after about a month... i replaced the bulbs, same thing.

Just get a single beam set up and wire up some Hella 500's or other off road lights to function as your high beams. You can wire them up so that the low beam headlights stay on when you select hi but taping into the parking lights power. Then all you need to do is wire up your off roard lights so they tun on when you select Hi beam.

dont these kits come with a relay harness anyway? I just bought a kit and it LOOKS like it has a relay harness with it. Its the moveable solenoid bulbs. the worst thing thatll happen is i dont like it and ill take it off.

Whats the worst that will happen with the solenoid bulbs? will it just stop moving from hi/lo?

Well I already ordered them. If you don't mind me asking, where did you get yours from? I'm going to at least give these a try. I don't understand why the low "bulb" would burn out. That seems weird like maybe not enough power or something crazy.

I hope they work out for you! i cant remember where exactly I got them, it wasnt ebay though. Back when i was trying to get my HID's all set up, i had about 5 or six different vendors i was using.

The idea of the dual xenons is the best, if they do end up working for you make sure you let us know!

well, quality is usually a problem with hid kits, so I would imagine they quit because of the quality of them.

I sure will. When the kit you bought did work, how was light output low vs high? Pretty noticeable I'd assume.

yeah, it was noticeable. when they actually were working, they worked great. thats why i want to follow up on your experience from this vendor. If they end up working reliably for a period of time, Ill give em a try.

Its just a pain in the ass to have your headlights go out when you really need them.

Of course it would be. I'm going to keep the halogens in the truck in case that happens. I carry some tools so it shouldn't be an issue if they go out. I'll be able to test these from next week until the end of May when I leave for basic training, so hopefully that'll be a long enough test period.

I joined the Air National Guard. My father was in the Air Force but went to the Guard once it was time for my sister and I to start school. I love being around military happenings and they have a good school program so I decided to join. Oh and don't forget serving this great country! That's always number 1.

Anyways, I'll be impressed if this HID kit doesn't give me troubles. I hope it doesn't and I'll appreciate the improved light output. I live in a relatively wooded area so deer and other wildlife frequently cross the road in front of me.

So I found a website that carries replacement bulbs, www.hidstores.com. They carry the "bulbs" in all different color temperatures. I might order the 4300k depending on how the kit holds up when I get it.

I can't wait to see these. Never even knew they made a type like this. I'm trying to get as much info on HID's before my Halogens burn out.

I've done tons and tons of searching to find these. I was three seconds away from buying a telescopic kit but then I remembered the problems associated with those types. So these magically wound up en route to my house.

I have had hids on my truck now for close to a month. I got oem ballasts cause I was wondering about kit quality. I also got 5k bulbs. I didn't know they where aftermarket...and im not really likin them. They were really white when I first got them, and they seem to have a little redish tint in them now, and flicker red every once in a while. Eventually, im going to get oem 4300k bulbs. Oem, not aftermarket...should be considerably brighter.

most cops dont care unless they are like 15000k or 30000k

I dont think I would go over 8000k. I've thought about going to 8k just to match my truck more. Anything beyond that is to much. the only way i'd go higher is if I was using them on a bike.
