HID question....only one firing

I finally got to hook up my 6000K's tonight and when I fired them, they flashed and only one came on. I checked the connections on the other and they seem fine. I'm assuming I need to get the relay kit to pull power off the battery? Currently they're just connected to the factory harnesses. I have the relay kit on my quad and it runs like a champ. Just thought I'd ask you guys and see what you think.

did you try it again? sometimes it'll take another try to light. if not it could be a ballast. swap the ballasts side to side. if the other headlight doens't work after swapping...you know the culprit

1. one of your driver fuse or pass side fuse popped. check you're underhood fuse box.

2. possibly mix up at the factory harness to ballast connection.

i'd get a relay harness anyway.

Well here's what I came up with. I went out and started playing around because if I don't figure it out...I won't be able to sleep. So here's the deal. drivers side works fine, nothing on the passenger side. so i plugged in the passenger side ballast to the driver side factory harness. works fine. so its not the passenger side bulb or the ballast.

i know the drivers side ballast works, so i hooked up the ballast to the passenger side factory harness. nothing. hmmmmm. not getting power to the harness maybe? i found that hard to believe, so i plugged in a halogen bulb and it worked fine. got out the meter and i'm getting 12 volts. Here's what I think is happening. I had PIAA bulbs in it at one time and the passenger side was dimmer then the drivers side. Turns out i fried the factory harness. so i went over to auto zone and bought a replacement (non OEM) came home, spliced it in and it worked fine. I don't think the aftermarket harness and the harness from the ballast are making contact. They're an off size and I think it's causing a contact issue. The drivers side with the factory harness and the HID plug work perfect. Fit tight as a glove. The passenger side isn't even close. I guess I'll head to the Ford garage Monday and see if I can get an OEM harness for the headlight. that sounds expensive. sh**! lol.....any brilliant ideas?

it poped the fuse? you should definitely get a harness with relays then. All the HID kits I went through (stupid hi/low beams) came with harnesses

i know my 01 has left/right fuses...one fuse for each side. i popped a few of those over the last few years. now with the relay harness i havn't popped any.

but i think we've cured you're problem...problem being the plug.
