Interchangeable Bumpers & Clusters?
Interchangeable Bumpers & Clusters?
I recently bought a 1999 Ranger and someone smacked the bumper with a bobcat. I have a 2004 Ranger and would like to swap the bumpers out with it, and also the odometer does not work in the 1999 and wondering if the clusters will interchange aswell? Thanks!
Welcome to the forum
Rear bumper?
Front?
Hangers will match up
No, on the instrument cluster, 2004 was first year of "digital dash", it used a microprocessor connected to Smart Junction Box(SJB)
1999 is still analog using GEM
Odometer's plastic gear is broken, not an uncommon issue
There are a few video How-Tos, this is a article how-to with pictures: Odometer Worm Gear Replacement

I appreciate it brother! And im going to be swapping out the front bumper, Ive looked into the worm gear and ill try my hand at it. Ill keep ya posted and let you know how it goes lol... I was also wondering on if the steering wheel will interchange. Im pretty sure it should just not 100% positive.
It should just MAKE SURE you unhook the battery and wait at least 15 minutes before working on any thing with an Air Bag
Air Bags have a capacitor that stores a deployment charge in case power is cut in an accident, so they can "go off" if you don't let the charge drain off.
