There are 2 different third brake lights though. One is a solid red with just a brake light, the other is red in the center and clear on the sides and have exterior lighting.

Should find one with the cargo lights on the sides and brake light in the middle, then run a wire from your dome light, and then you'll have cargo lights... which are sweet btw.

I have the one with cargo lights and have used it maybe once in the two years I have had the truck. They are not very bright and i dont see them being much help imo.

If you run the power from the dome power... it will come on when you turn up the dimmer switch til it clicks, just as you would turn the dome light on. Also comes on when I unlock with the key fob, just like the dome light does. If it doesn't do that, you wired it up wrong.

mine is factory wired. somethings messed up anyways because i can turn the dimmer up all the way and there is no click and the dome doesn't come on. then again maybe thats the way it is. my truck is the base package. power nothing, and no A/C.

On my pickups... 1999 and 2002, there is a switch right by your headlight switch that controls the brightness/dimness of your dash lights, you just CLICK it up...

Im plannin on swapping out my tails and third brake light for an LED set. Hopefully that will make em a bit brighter. Until then I will continue to use a flashlight lol.
