You have rust issues as it is ,
I would find a lower bed side patch panel , and have it welded in .
Replace the bumper .
Don't feel bad .
I had lived at my house about a year , and
backed over the front porch.
Resulted in a broken driver side lens , and 6 spindles for the hand rail . Same thing, I hate that darn cap.

That sucks man. Bumper needed to be replaced w/ all the rust on it anyway. You can custom make one since you like to run stuff over and hit stuff and hopefully it will protect your body.

nice, I did the same thing but I didn't hit the tree as hard as you did and the tree slid off my bumper and broke my tail light while denting in the side of my bed. It was fun. I still haven't fix it. I'm lazy and its cold out.

lol, oh but before that I was offroading and went to turn when in the mud and it just kept sliding and I bounced off a tree. Front bumper got bent so I loosened everything on the bumper and hooked a come along to it and pulled it back into place.
