Need Advise on Rustproofing, Primer, and Paint Products
Well I finally got around to taking a look at the brackets on my step bars while I was changing my oil today. They have been on my truck for 2 years now and the brackets look terrible. I actually rust killed them, primed them, and painted them last year I think. I cant remember. This time I first set off to take what paint I could off of it with a puddy knife and then started working on it with a wire brush. After 15 minutes of not being able to comfortably do it with them attached to my truck I figured I'd take them off. I have yet to take the rest of the rust off. What I'm looking for are products that you guys have used that work for killing rust, priming, and painting the brackets. How many coats of each do you guys recommend?? Do you guys prefer the liquid rust remover or the spray on?? I remember I used Rustoleum primer last time and I thought that would hold up, but I guess not if I didnt get all of the rust away first. Another question I had, would you guys think that using some of the undercoat spray would work better than paint?? Just shooting out some ideas. Anything I could get from you guys would be helpful. Thanks
Chris
