Need Help with painting.

I just got my fiberglass roll pan and I need to paint it. It is gelcoated. I don't have the money to get it sprayed by a pro. How would I do it with duplicolor spraycans? This is all new to me. Do I need to sand it after I primer it? Any info would be appreciated.

Good luck... You need to sand it, primer it, sand it again with wet sandpaper and shoot it but you're going to have to try very hard to colormatch with spray paint.

ya wait till you got enough money to get it sprayed. Spraypaint is not car paint its not gonna match up in color and spray paint just looks ****ty.

yeah i agree too... wait till you can get a real paintjob. even the duplicolor colormatched sprays arent going to turn out that great.

i just got my front and rear rollpan painted by earl scheib for about $260. I did all the prep myself, as i've heard they basically do no prep at all. The colormatch was way off the first time, but they redid it for free, and 2 days later it was good to go.

theyre nationwide, so there is probably one around your area somewhere. for spot work, they charge $150 for the first panel, and $75 for each additional panel, so it should cost you under $200 bucks for just the rollpan.

I only spent $25 on the roll pan so it seems stupid to put a $200 paint job on it. I agree a pro sprayed job will be the best but I just would rather do it. Thats why asked how to do it myself.

Well if you spent $25 that means you should have the money to do it right. I spent $100 on a fiberglass tonneau cover out of the newspaper and a $200 dollar paintjob made it look like brand new.
