Icon9 Newbie with mirror issues!

Hello everyone!

I'm the semi proud owner of a '92 Ranger XLT 4X4 Super cab. I like my li'l truck for the most part but...those ridiculous outside mirrors are going to make me crazy! They keep folding back against the cab if I am on the Freeway! I "Gooped" one in place and now the other has started the inevitable fold-at-speed trick and I'm a touch more than frustrated!

The local Ford dealer wants like $168 for a new "flag" style mirror, a sum I find as crazy as the design of those #!!@**! mirrors!

Is there a fix for them or do I have to find "other" mirrors, or maybe hope I can find a good one at a wrecking yard?? HELP!!! *grumble mutter*

cheers!
Aiyana

I'd try the junk yard first and see if you can come up with anything. Ebay maybe? My 92 had the manual adjusting mirrors and I never had a problem with them folding in on their own. I don't think there's any way to adjust them to keep them from doing that, but don't quote me on that.

Anyone else chime in on this?

I had a 1990 Ranger and never found a good replacement mirror that would work well. I just ended up buying the OEM style "flag" mirrors again. Although I definitely would not buy them from a dealership. They have them at Carquest if you have one, otherwise try eBay or LMC. Either way, eventually they will end up doing the same thing; just one of the problems with those mirrors.

Yeah, definitely try your local junkyard. Don't buy that horse**** piece of plastic for that much from the dealer.
