niteshade opinions needed
And I did them that dark because I have another set of tails if I feel like going red.
Ya reverse taped off. How many coats you gonna put on? I have been wanting to do the ones on my 99 but havent decided yet. The turn signal is whats throwing me off on doing it or not cause I dont want it to dark but got to cover the turn signal
Leave the reverse, I think it looks better and what I did with mine. And don't try to cover up the amber, thats what i did with my corners and it made them too dark, just deal with the darkened amber.
that looks awesome!!! do you have to get the nightshade stuff or can you do it with gloss black paint?? i was thinking about doing this also, i have a broken tail light that i can use as a "test light" so if i **** up its not a big deal. im heading to town tomorrow morning so maybe i'll pick up another can of gloss black( have one for the mower and dont wanna use it other than on the mower) and try it.

If you insist on painting though you need to get VHT Niteshades, regular paint won't allow light to pass through.
If you're gonna do the whole tail light including the reverse part then I'd use stick on window tint. A guy at RPS did it and it came out really nice and you don't have to worry about wet sanding or anything. Plus if you don't like it you can always reverse it.

Use Nightshade, mine is 3 coats of Nightshade and 3 coats of clear, I didn't wet sand after i sprayed. Its not that hard to screw up actually, I thought I would that's why I did my 2000 lights and not the 04's.
I finally did my third brake light tonight because i was bored, I did two coats of Shade and no clear.
Thanks!!

here's my truck..the right one as you can see is broken so its gonna be the dummy light since i have to replace it anyways. i have a black steel rear bumper waiting to go on also, might do the 3rd light too.
Tape off reverse lights for sure!! Just lay thin coats on untill it looks good to you. Mine are pretty dark and light still shows through really well. Cop's around me are real a** holes and they don't bother me about it at all. Surprisingly!
