what paint would you use??

i picked up another top for my truck and its black and the clear coat is peeling off of it. ive called a few places around her and they want like $500-$600 to paint it. so my question is what kind of paint have you had good luck with matching the factory paint well? i might also do my bumper white again too. ive already tried the dupli-color stuff on other things and it doesnt match at all.

eh, we used a custom match of Devron 224 HS emron from Glidden to paint the blue stripe on our boat. I forget what we used for primer... But we painted cause dad finally got tired of spending a week trying to bring the color back after 3 months in the sun.... from dead flat to shiny...

Just paint the whole damn truck with Rustoleum Farm Equipment paint, after you prime the truck with Rustoleum primer. Cheap, and you can even brush the paint on. It levels itself out nicely.

As 99offroadrgr said, go to a body shop type paint store, a good one that sells to local shops.

Good shops have a special camera to analyze paint and match it; they feed the digital info to their paint computer and it mixes the paint.

Ask them take a picture of your paint and then match it, some will put it in spray bombs but best to use a spray gun and a good quality primer.

I had it done to paint my steppe bed when I replaced it and the E4, a pita color, matched really well.

I've never seen the digital paint camera before. i've always seen it done by code.
a good painter will be able to take your paint code, and be able to either blend or match the fade of your current paint.

Yup on the Camera and it work well…

Once I clay bar the front the color will match closer and E4 is a bear to match up.

Was just looking at the pic again, five Fords in the yard and the Box truck further down the road is a Ford too.

Red and Black are hardest to match.
My truck is off, i painted the bed and forgot to mix it as a lighter flop. so its a shade darker than the rest of the truck.

I've still got half a pint left of the bed color. It isn't enough to do the whole cab, but it would have been enough in case i got in an accident or something and needed to paint a panel.

this was enough to do a whole truck?

Looking to paint my whole truck and wondering how much paint to pick up. Think I may even splurge and invest in a good paint gun.
