Quick Question about Edge bumpers.

Do any of the Edge bumpers actually come chrome. My truck is finally getting fixed and the body man is looking for an Edge bumper chromed, but not finding one. I need to know if they actually come chromed. Thanks.

nope... but an upper valance from an xlt 4x4, fx4, or similar will swap with a color-keyed edge bumper.

yep, that is pretty much the only difference - EDGE bumpers are painted to match body color
same MY trucks should be able to swap painted versus chrome bumpers with out complication

My body guy found a guy who Chrome plates here in DFW that has a chromed Edge bumper.

Atleast that is what he says. I will go look at it sometime next week.

4x4 xlt BUMPERS and EDGE BUMPERS are 100% the same design besides the fact the 4x4's is chromed and the edge is paintable....

Well, found out yesterday that the XLT 4x4 bumper (and all Edge bumpers) w/ Valance are made to kind of stick out around the edge of the bumper so that the bumper lines up with the fender flares the truck has. Well, since my truck doesnt have fender flares, the bumper sticks out about an ince, maybe a tad more, on each side. keke.

For those that dont know this and plan to put edge bumpers on their XLT, just thought you should know =)

It is the same as if you have a flareside like I do. You can pull the valance off and trim the plastic clips back so it doesn't stick out as far.

Thats how it looks on all Edge Flaresides as well, since they don't come with the fender flares from the factory.

I think I remember someone managed to use a frame puller table to bend them in slightly to line up better. But unless you've got a good friend at a body shop..

It wasn't off an Edge then. Unless he chromed a bumper off an Edge himself and that's a very scary thought thinking about chromed fiberglass...

The upper portion of the bumper assembly is metal, lower portion (valance) is rubber/plastic. Where did you get fiberglass?

As for the bumper itself, it is actually a bumper from an XLT 4x4. He didnt know the day i posted that and i didnt either. I found out later what it was off of.

I always wondered why my edge bumper sticks out like that on the edges... I always thought something looked wrong or out of freaking place!

So there is no way to fix this without getting the Flares? I have 2.3L XLT with the power dome hood, honeycomb grill and the edge bumper..

I never took the bumper off but you thinking trimming something would help?

I will take pictures and post up shortly when it's light out.
