Quote on paint
About how much do you think it will cost for me to get a semi gloss black paintjob. Is there anyways i can prep it to cut cost down? Thanks!

call around to different shops...i know we charge between 2500-4000 for an overall paint job and you can save some money by R&I ing as much stuff as you can
|
Maaco shops are very cheap. $200-$1000 for a paint job. If you choose them I would do ALL the prep yourself.

Paint can only be as good as the prep work. That's why I say do it yourself.

Doing it yourself isn't as easy as you think specially if you need to do any body work. My friend had to do a bit of body work on his front bumper and decided to spray it himself and it didn't come out great. Wasn't an easy paint job, Lamborghini Monterrey Blue requires several coats of purple and a few of blue, its a bitch lol |
The cost paint job depends on what you want it to look like.
if you want a Rat Rod look then do it or as much of it you can, yourself. If you want it to look good then save and pay the price for a good job. Around NE MA price would run about $3 to $4K and up depending on the amount of body work. |
I agree with the prep work stuff. Do it all yourself. Then save up for a professional.

I guess alot of us have been diying it a while, the ranger is the first thing I've had I haven't painted. haha
Maaco likes to paint over everything, you gotta tape that stuff up. |
As the others said check around and decide what you want to spend. Actually drive the truck to the shops and have the person painting it look at the truck and walk you through all the steps that they will do. I am about 3 hours south of DC and got quotes from 1200-5k which was for changing it to a new color. I found a shop that let me pull all the lights, bumpers, hood, interior, and bed to save on cost. A reputable shop will want to do all of the final prep so they can guarentee the outcome.

Holy Crap!!! ^^^Where did you come from!!!

I drove over to a local paint shop and they gave me a quote for 2200 bucks. Thats a whole lot more then i was expecting to pay. I need to cut the cost down somehow. anybody have any suggestions?

take as much stuff off yourself as you can...thats where it adds up quick and 2200 is not a bad price

Some shops want to do it all to make sure the paint looks good and keep their rep up. |
