Im in the market for one and there is different companies out there that supply them.

Well to make things easier for me to make a decision, i was thinking of making a post where people can post pics of theirs so i can see which one looks the best.

Just post a pic and give a brief description of it(ie:who makes it, what model, ect)

waste-o-money, I bought one for my 01, but only because I had a huge rock chip in the hood I wanted to hide. It does nothing other than look ugly and if \you get a tall one, you get to watch it shake as you drive.

Mine was Ford one, and it was the shorter one. they have two styles.

 

i was looking for a small one. I guess its called the "low-profile" one? I was leaning more towards oem but i cant seem to find a part number for my 2000 XLT.

 

I have the same one that HAZZARDJOHN does that i'll sell ya, just pm me if you want it.

 

I don't see how its a wasted of money, it keeps the rock chips off the front of the hood. Isn't that whats its supposed to do?

In any even't I love mine. No more chips!

 

Mine came with the truck and I don't plan on taking it off any time soon.

 

Now that's a bug shield.

 

Mine is a lund bugflector II painted oxford white

 

Did the same thing on my son's 97 ranger. Got a lund visor in clear and painted the underside so that bugs and rocks don't chip the paint - color matched to your vehicle paint.

Sorry, no picture but the same as Noah's above opnly in toreador red. I think this is the best way to go, since it blends in a little more than smoke...at least on some colors.

well i bought the SAME exact one you have. the AVS Bug DEflector II at pep boys, doesnt look too bad at all actually!!! Ill post a pic soon

 

no they dont look to bad and when i got mine the price was right to only like 10$ lol it was on clearence cause someone ordered it and dindt pick it up lol

My friend had found it in his front yard, and he drives a civic, happened to be for a ranger...Gave it to me, put it on...
Im not too fond of the look, but it protects it.
May eventually get around to color match it.

im thinking about painting the grill black to break up the mass of silver/gray on my truck, anyone think thats a good idea?

 

I dont understand the logic behind that. What about the other painted stuff up front? grill, bumper..........they're just as likely to get chiped by a rock, but yet they're not protected. Also, if a rock flies at your truck, its just as likely to chip/ crack the windsheild, and its not protected either. I dont see a bug sheild as any form of protection. If anything, it might even scratch/pit the clearcoat where the sheild is. If grit and stuff works its way down between the bug shield and paint, and the shield vibrates or flaps any, over time, it could cause the grit and stuff to pit the clearcoat. Im not sayin it will happen, just saying its a possibility.

 

oh well, they serve one purpose or another, or else they wouldnt sell them

 

That would look good or you could color match it to the exterior of your truck

I had one, really liked it. then one day I took it off for the hell of it. Loved it and have never put it back on since!

I really dont like them much.

i have a bug shield for an 03 that might work on your truck. ud hafta check and see...

 

There are rubber pads on the back side that are probably 1/4 of an inch thick, that keep it from flapping or scratching the hood. You are correct, the whole front end isn't protected, but the only thing chipped and rusty on my truck is my stupid painted bumper. I need to get a chrome one. In any event, I like the fact that there i only one chip in my hood instead of a hundred.

 

I'm with Mudslinger Mark on this, not that anyone cares about my opinion.

It's like putting scotch tape over your pee hole and calling it a condom.

I'm gonna use the 3M stuff you peel and stick on the hood, and entire front, I've noticed this comes stock on the new Porsche's

I like that chrome one on that 06-07 style ranger if I got one it might be like that
