Silverstars

Those who have bought Silverstars, were have the cheapest prices been. I am assuming online?

Rolldogg 12-29-2007 07:24 AM

I've always just purchased mine at Canadian Tire. My 9007's have lasted me a few years now. The 9005's usually alternate sides, but burn out about every 6-8 months. I'll have to get around to getting the proper 9145's for them.

Fx4wannabe01 12-29-2007 04:02 PM

ebay.....got mine for $24 a pair shipped. Bought my subaru a pair, and my parent a pair for their escort. And a pair for my H4 conversion on the chevy.

Machine090767 12-29-2007 08:12 PM

target: $29 for two bulbs. everyday price.

Fx4wannabe01 12-29-2007 10:26 PM

EDIT......The ones i bought were ultras....love them.

Never sounds lame when you get the same bulbs for the cheapest price.

Lord Of War 12-31-2007 12:22 AM

$22 seems like a great deal.

9006 is a single filament....a low beam
9005 is a single filament....a high beam.

That's a chevy setup.

I got mine for $40 for the pair. Worth every penny though. I finally said screw it though and went with some HIDs. I currently run silverstars in my foglights though, and love them.

Lord Of War 01-02-2008 10:43 AM

So what # bulb do I need for my main driving light (high and low beam)? I was at Walmart and I could only find the pair for $38 and the singles for $ 19. plus change.

When you guys say your prices is that for a pair or a single?

Fx4wannabe01 01-02-2008 05:01 PM

9007 for your headlamps in the ranger.
9145 is the proper on for the fogs...but....
9005 works fine, and it's like 65w, rather than 9145 55w.

$25 shipped per pair off ebay.........that's the deal i got for the Ultras.

Damn... LOL $25 shipped might be the deal of the year for Ultras.

Just to make sure 9007 are the only ones I can use in my headlamps?

I do believe that 9007's are the only ones that will plug into the socket. Don't quote me on it, but I'm sure that 9007's work nicely. They were just on sale at Advance Auto for 27.88 a pair right before Christmas since I bought my girlfriend and my father a set.

it was your wirings fault it burned up. not the silverstars. if they were the correct wattage (55) they cannot be the reason for the burned up wiring. CASE DISMISSED.

Fx4wannabe01 01-03-2008 09:31 AM

Your headlamp housings are made for 9007.....your socket for the bulbs are 9007........truck came stock w/ 9007......you need 9007 for the headlamp housings.

Never had a problem with melting wiring......i agree above......there was a failt in the harness in that s-dime. It wasn't the silverstars fault. I have however had problems melting plugs running 125w bulbs.....but that was because of the heat generated by the 125w bulbs that caused that problems........and me deciding to try it. lol.

garryyjr 01-03-2008 01:53 PM

How well are the silverstars compared to HID's?

I want some brighter lights but not ready to fork out the 200+ for HID's at the time.

Any pic's comments or concerns? I would love to find out before i spend 30 bucks..and not like them.

Thanks!
