Blacking out the ride......Questions...Painting

Ok Guys I got a few questions before doing so. Im going on a 13 day vacation at the end of this week. Not going anywhere just getting away from work lol. Well I want to paint the fender flares and bumpers black. "black out" my ride. I would like to start on this while I am off. So here come the questions:

1.) What Kind of paint do I use?

2.) Can I take off the flares and put back on with no problem? (Heard people saying that I can take em off but may not be able to put back on)

3.)Is it leagle to have no bumper and drive as long as ya have a lisence plate?

4.) What color to paint them, flat blck or gloss black?

5.) Is there a clear coat I could use that won't crack after time?

Scuf it with a grey scotch brite pad and clean the crap out of it with alchohol. Don't go gloss it will chip and be a PITA to fix later. If you use a flat black you can just flat black it again to touch it up. Or you can just use satin black instead and have the best of both worlds. They sell a "trim black" at most auto stores that is meant for plastic and is flexible and satin black.

Well on my edge it was a pita to take them off but once you get ballsy enough after the 2nd or 3rd one, you'll be able to do easily, cause you have to pull really friggin hard. unless you have a non-marring chisel that won't scratch the paint, it may help pop them out.

Well on my 03 if you didn't rip em off like Hulk Hogan on a 'roid rage you'd be alright, but I'm not sure if they are the same.

Fusion is made for plastic, so It bends... and shouldn't crack.

go to auto zone and get some cans of the trim paint or bumper paint it is meant for auto flairs, mirrors, and such and the bumper paint doesnt chip. thats what i used and have had it on for a couple months now. it stayed on with me powerwashing it. just make sure to sand down the part so it adheres correctly the paint is actually a semigloss black and goes with the body color nicely and since we have the exact same truck i know itll look good on yours. you might wanna consider grinding down or snadblasting your bumper because they are notorious for rusting from rock chips and be sure to spray it with primer and a couple coats of black

My buddy painted my flares/rockers outta his shop for me and he did not take the flares off. I just had a guy on TRS tell me he took off his flares and has to make some new push tab thingies to get the flares back on cuz when he took them off he busted a few and the dealer apparently does not sell those seperately. Obviously it would be more correct to take them off and paint, but you can still get an awesome job if you mask them off careful enough. Here's the best pic I have but I can always take more if you wanna see how it turned out up close.

If you really know how to paint then go gloss...but if you don't, just do it flat because flat black looks good either way but gloss looks pretty bad if you don't know what you're doing.
