Swappin' out fronts?

I hit the jackpot! But don't quote me.

I have a buddy who does a little fabricating about possibly "converting" the front of my 98 Ranger to fit a 04 Edge front. He has connection @ the local junkyard and I'm pretty sure I'd be able to find the parts.

Anyways, is this possible without me bending over backwards far enough to smell my own farts?

You'll need to get the 04+ header panel, grille, 04+ powerdome hood (your XLT hood wont work), 01+ headlights and corners.

In other words, I could just take the front "cap" off of the Edge, starting at the bumper and ending at the winshield and be set? The new headlights also mean that I'd have to rewire them in, which isn't to difficult.

Also... with me taking off the entire front would I have to do anything to prevent the airbags from deploying (besides pulling the fuse)? Or would the sensors be affected in any way? Thanks!

You wouldn't need to rewire the headlights. Just pop the sockets out of current headlights and then pop them into the new headlights.

I would, but I've got an option to get a Edge front for free... or pay. Which would you do? Thanks, though!

As for the airbags...

It's practically the same from my Mazda to Ranger conversion.

Header Panel
Hood
Headlights
Corner lights
Grill w. shell

And some other mis. things like to hold the headlights in. I also had to buy fenders too since the Mazda fenders didn't really work.

Irrelevant picture removed. As for the airbags i've never seen a sensor behind the bumper, i'm almost sure they use an accelerometer.

Bumper to, the chrome bumper will look odd with the 04 front end.

So, I haven't made it out to my friends dads junkyard yet, but I'm workin' on it. Sometime next week for sure.

Anyways.. I know "WannaBeEdge" converted his Mazda front into an Edge front. Has anyone else, tho? I'm wonderin' if anyone could help me, as far as install goes, rough estimate on time/labor, tools, etc. Thanks!

What do I need to change a 98 mazda to a 98-00 ranger? Header panel, grill, and headlights? Where do I get a header panel?

you may also need front fenders. im not 100% sure on that since you're only converting to 98-00 instead of 01-03 like Brenton did.

easiest places to find the header panels are either going to be eBay or a local junk yard.

here's a link to a 1998-2000 header panel on ebay..

Dude you are awesome! The fenders on the rangers and mazdas for that year look identical so I'm hoping I just need the lights, panel, and grill.

Na, you'll need new fenders if you want the fenders to sit flush w. the corner lights.
