taillight covers vs. the spray can stuff
i want to black out my taillights and 3rd brake light, me and my friend were thinking about just goin to superatobacs and pickin up the spray can stuff to do it but are the covers better and worth the extra $$?

spray can
depends on how dark you want them, you can control the darkness with the niteshade. The niteshade also follows the contours of the light while the covers do not
my friend also said something about sanding down the taillight covers do you need to do that?
make sure u check your local laws on niteshade. its illegal here, my buddy had to get all new rear lights bc he niteshaded them. id go with a blacked out light thats dot legal. thats what i did
use a scotch brite pad then make sure you clear coat them when you are done, one coat is perfect!
i dont know if its illegal or not but dont really care if i get pulled over for it i will have to put back on my front license plate and take the tint off my front windows, does clear coat come in a spray can and where can i get it? also the scotch bright pad where do i get that?
u can get pads at wal-mart
clear coat can be bought in a can |
clear coat at any local hardware store, walmart etc.... same place for the scotch bright pad... and yes it does come in a can...
k thanks for the help and while im at it i was thinking about changing my headlights to thinking about these two
or i would need to get different bulbs but is there anything else i would need to do like diffrent wiring or getting more wattage to power them? |

you can still use the same bulbs...but why not upgrade to something else...they straight replacement lights...
i had niteshade on my old truck with no probs in CA...i did 5-6 very light coats, and masked off the reverse light to keep it white comparison pic: Attachment 204990 |
yea thats the look i want, so there is no aditional wiring involved? what lights silverstar? which of the two sets above would look best on a white ranger
i would go with the black...looks better IMO...and yea silverstar or silverstar ultra...there are some other ones that im going to try from modbargains.com that a member here sells or you could go for an HID conversion if you are up for it...the HID would require additional wiring though
i looked at those but i dont have the money, after payin my car insurance in the next few weeks ill be broke and i make my money by makin pizzas at round table hahaha.............. i hate my job.
well im glad to hear you have a job and pay for your mods! gotta pay to play! you have a nice wish list of mods going then? (I know i do...)

I used Niteshades, I LOVE it.
I did like 8 or 9 coats, completely blacked the lights out. Looks amazing. |
^ Ya i made mine pretty dark too but taped off the reverse light, pics in my sig if you want an idea
I used the niteshade but i only used 3 coats. Still fices it that blacked out look just not as dark. Tape off reverse light like Eric says, if not the light looks kinda purplish.
What is the scotch brite pad supposed to be for?
used to scratch the surface to allow the tint to adhere better...
