Ticket for My Tint Need Help ASAP
Hey everyone out there so the CHP decided that they coulnt see through my limo tint and hit me with a fix it ticket. To keep things short I have to run it by court to show them I stripped the tint off. I was just wondering if it was possible to take off the door panel from my truck, dismount the two front windows, exchange them with my buddies truck and then swap them for like an hour while i show the court I \"stripped\" the tint. Is this possible? Both trucks have manual windows.

I'm sure it's possible as long as they are both similar generation Rangers. I just had my panels off and installed the A1 Electric power window kit. I believe the window is mounted to two sliders that move up and down on rectangular tubes to keep the window on track and in line. Also, the manual window regulator has an arm with a plastic piece that slides in a track that is mounted to the window mounts at the bottom of the window that lift the window up and down when cranked. So IF the window is *ABLE* to be unbolted from it's mounts, you wont have to worry about messing with the crank regulator assembly. I know it's confusing, but you will see what I mean when you open up the door panel and look at the "guts."

i know this is going to sound bad, but, you know the tint is illegal. you know the cops will be looking out for trucks with tinted windows. take the tint off and keep it stock, or have a shop re do it to legal specifications. a professional tinting shop cannot go darker than the law will allow of that state. (each state is different) it's not worth an expensive ticket or the loss of your license just to look cool. keep it legal, keep it safe!

Why not just obey the law and take the tint off and avoid future problems?

Tint is legal in NC, 35 percent on the front two and no limit on the rear of any Van, Truck or SUV. It's different with cars. But anywho, I use tint to protect the interior of my truck, if you all haven't seen what sunlight can do to a dash or a black interior, I'm sure I can dig up pictures. I'm not willing to sacrafice a 20,000 vehicle's condition in place of a lowsy tint law. Law's are created by those who normally have enough money to break them. The way I feel is if my windows are not dark to the point where they impair my vision, I will keep them how I please. Not to mention the fact that being on the fire department kind of helps me out with the police. Everyone's vision is different, and some can see differently through tint than others. I have 20 percent on my front two windows, I feel that is within my limit, so unless some cop want's to come ticket me, I will keep it that way. Not to mention the guy who inspected my truck, he passed it.

Tint on the front side windows is illegal in California. 70% is legal, but that's stock "untinted" windows.
I say take it off and then pay the 50 bucks to get the front twos tinted again. It is illegal, but tint is something nice to have, esp. in this Cali sun.
And the cops won't "look" for you, there are too many damn cars here in LA that looks the same.

The thing is, and I am totally against breaking laws to a point, some people take it too far. Some vehicle's have windows tinted so dark, that it's almost like spray paint. From what I understand, this is what the tinting laws try to prevent. I'm going to be honest, if you have drove a vehicle with 20 percent tint and have problems seeing, you need contact lenses or should not be allowed to drive at night. I didn't mean to step on anyone's toes about the law. I'm sure some of you have opinions on different things just as I do on this. I just can't afford to trade in a vehicle every 2 years to keep an interior fresh. My windows are not dark enough in my case to cause any problems on the highway, day or night. If that was the case, I would have the legal limit.

The first time I got pulled over for limo the CHP called my parents LOL. They told them to make sure I got it off. Never happened. Second time I got pulled over for it I just got *****ed at. 3rd time I got pulled over he gave me a fix it. Tint shop pulled it off for free because I told them I was gonna have it put back on the next day. Next day i had limo again.

so when a law enforcement officer dies because he couldnt see the gun behind the tinted glass in your illegilaly tinted vehicle, how much of you life are you willing to pay behind bars, or ultimately your life, instead of obeying a small law. its not just made up for someone to pick on you for. its for peoples safety.

First of all, if you can't see into a vehicle with 20 percent tint even at night then you have no business being on law enforcement. Go be an airport security guard. NEXT!
PS: Don't try to spill on me about laws. I have been through BLET, and I had planned on being a HP in the state of NC. However, I chose, after driver training, that I felt like it was too much of a risk to my family and loved ones to continue on and pursue a career in law enforcement when business management was staring me in the face.
