Hello everyone. I have a question. I just recently bought these truck driving lights and installed them on my truck. Right now there placed behind the grille. I was just wondering if they are ILLEGAL in texas to have them on while driving at night? They aren't that bright and I see other cars with brighter lights then me. I only installed them to see better at night.

I now plan on installing the mesh grille next.

I actually have one more question. Is there anywhere else to mount them without being behind the grille? I've seen them mounted on the bumper with L-brackets. I bought shelf mounting brackets but those dont have big enough holes. Anything else work? Thanks for the input in advance.

I wouldn't use them with other cars around. I only use mine when on non lit roads with no other cars, when someone in front of me is going like half the speed limit, or when someone has crappy glaring HIDs that blind me.

According to Texas law, You can only have 4 lights illuminated on the front of your car, not counting the turn signals, marker lights. I doubt that you would get pulled over for this, since most newer cars are running HID's in the headlghts, as well as the foglights. This was past on to me by a State Trooper friend of mine. I have 2 sets of off road lights as well, but only turn them on whenever there isn't another car around. Just out of courtesy.

 

The DOT standards governing automakers allows for one additional set of driving or fog lights in addition to the headlights. So any state's own laws must at a minimum allow for that. There are sneaky ways to word prohibiting aftermarket lights, but I just don't picture Texas doing that.

As long as you have them aimed down to where they aren't blinding oncoming traffic, you should be fine.
